I hold a Bachelor's degree in Spanish from Cornell University and spent my junior year at the Universidad de Sevilla in Spain. I earned my Master's degree in secondary education with a specialization in teaching Spanish and English as a Second Language (ESL).
My recent experience includes teaching Spanish at St. Andrew's Episcopal School in Potomac for the past six years. I have also recently taught ESL to students whose first language is Spanish.
I am a skilled teacher who is well-versed in the Comprehensible Input language teaching methodology. Comprehensible Input (CI) is an acquisition-based teaching model inspired by linguist, Dr. Stephen Krashen's research. CI provides students with engaging materials that reinforce key structures and vocabulary to ensure that students comprehend messages in the target language. The focus of CI is for students to understand language input first and foremost, in order to develop the ability to spontaneously produce language as they progress.
